The Center for Global Languages partners with local elementary and middle schools to provide Conversational Spanish and Chinese classes as part of their after-school program offerings. Students will practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing/grammar in the new language through the use of games, music, drama, arts and crafts, dialogs, and group and paired activities.
SPANISH FOR KIDS
The Spanish for Kids program consists of a series of 15-hour courses designed for students in grades K through 5. The course is offered either once or twice a week for one and a half hours each class:
- Students will also learn the culture, geography, and history of Spanish-speaking countries.
- The course integrates the Muzzy Video program into every class. This is a cartoon series that allows students comprehension practice in a new and exciting context. The video component of each class is approximately ten minutes in length with a follow up activity.
- The course fee includes snacks, student workbook, and all instructional materials (crayons, pencils, scissors, etc.).
CHINESE FOR KIDS
Chinese for Kids 1A is a 15-hour course designed for students in grades 3 through 5. The course is offered either once or twice a week for one and a half hours each class:
- The language is presented using pinyin, the phonetic letter representation of Chinese characters/symbols.
- Students will also learn the culture, geography, and history of China.
- The course integrates the Muzzy Video program into every class. This is a cartoon series that allows students comprehension practice in a new and exciting context. The video component of each class is approximately ten minutes in length with a follow up activity.
- The course fee includes snacks, student workbook, and all instructional materials (crayons, pencils, scissors, etc.).
